SPONSER A CHILD'S EDUCATION

The Institute provides education for the children at KL/St Vincent's Vidyalaya, Maggona which is a Government School providing education for children up to GCE O'Level. The building of this school was constructed and managed by the OMI Congregation and was subsequently acquired by the Government of Sri Lanka at the time of the schools take over.

Children who qualify for the A'Level classes are sent to other schools in the area or other Catholic schools in Colombo and are boarded and their progress and wellbeing monitored by us. About 30% of our children are illiterate and we do our best to educate them with individual attention and tuition given by teachers. Salaries for Tuition Teachers (in all school subjects) cost approx. Rs.100,000/- per month. The reasons for tuition are due to the very low standard of teaching in the government school. Many children (even those over 18 years of age) don't know to read, write and calculate. They need very special attention.

It costs over Rs.5,000/- per month on the expenditure of each child and we are in need of sponsors to help us in this project. This will assist us tremendously. A contribution of Rs.5,000/- per month by you as an individual or as a group towards the sponsorship of a child is appreciated.

Education is an investment that the Institute makes for the children and this will continue to be our main objective and priority and all efforts will be made to achieve our goal. This is a moral and social commitment of the Congregation and Institute.

As we intend continuing our service to the less fortunate children so that they will have their basic education which is a right of the child, we look forward to your generosity and kind assistance in helping us educate underprivileged children and thereby help us achieve our mission and goal.
